I've gained a new pupil who cannot speek a word of English he's Polish. Any advice this is my first EAL pupil?!

I was wondering if anyone has any EAL resources general or for the following topics flooding/rivers and population that they would be willing to share?

I'm in the same boat. We have no systems in place and he is basically teaching me Polish (JA życzyć JA kulisy mówić po polsku!). We had an interesting look and see type carry on using Google earth to locate his home town, but I feel really angry that I can't do more.

The school and LEA really should have a system in place to help, so I would alse be really interested to hear from anyone else in a similar situation.
