As part of geography awareness week I am putting up 'geographical facts' up around school.

Does anyone have any good ideas / suggestions of facts?

Thanks

Graeme

You could find basic facts in the Guinness book of records.

How about dissecting some old atlases or OS maps to highlight where places are what they do. or photographs to get students to question what? where? why care?

Finally something I can contribute!

Some factoids I have displayed in my classroom.

I (hopefully) have put them here.

I have displayed about 30 A4 colour fact cards as a border around my room. They include highest mountain, deepest ocean, driest, hottest etc etc. Just got them from Internet. Happy to send you a copy when I am back at work. Poorly sick with a chest infection at the mo. Send me your email address. xx

Thanks for all these ideas and Jodi John, from the British School, Manila, has sent me some more GeoFacts (with fab illustrations!) which her students found while walking round the Natural History Museum - there is enough for one a week (including the holidays too!) and GeoWords of the week. Both of these are one single word files, for easy amending, and are on www.sln.org.uk/geography/just_good_ideas.htm

Interestingly they are my illustrations added to Jodi's facts. I added them last Sunday to en;iven the display for the classroom and emailed them back to her!
